Don’t be scared to screw up :D

by manmeetk

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” — Michael Jordan, basketball player.

You cannot fail, you can only produce results. But most of the times we overlook this fact and beat ourselves up!Believe that there are no failures; we merely postpone our success. There are no failures in life, only delays. Failures are stepping stones, not stumbling blocks, to success. Unless there are failures, how can there be success?

A very good read about how to learn from every failure.

How geniuses think? :)

by manmeetk

Ever wondered what goes inside the mind of a genius? Is it just intelligence or something else that sets them apart? I found a link which provides a great insight into how such people process information 🙂

Kinect and autism!

by manmeetk

The poster session yesterday was so cool! It was fascinating to see different projects and so many amazing ideas being implemented. I was extremely impressed by the “kinect the dots” project. The concept of using kinect to help children with autism to inspire them to learn and get more interested in things, is fabulous! Kudos to the team for coming up with such a great idea. As one of the team members shared that implementing the project was not that difficult once they got the idea and the prototype ready.

I was going through some articles about how kids with autism are able to connect with kinect more than they have ever been with any other games. I found an  interesting article about how Kinect helped a father play with his autistic son.

Hope many more such awesome steps can be taken to help kids be kids 🙂

Unusual architecture!

by manmeetk

When bright ideas blend with technology and financial sources nothing is impossible, especially when it comes to the architectural and construction industry.Following are some interesting buildings I came across:

This is the piano house recently built in An Hui Province, China. This architectural building seems like a perfect combination of music and art!

This is the Upside Down House located in Poland, in the small village of Szymbark. This house is not only a major tourist attraction but it is also a symbol of the Communist era.

The Dancing House is located in downtown Prague, Czech Republic. The actual name of the building is Nationale-Nederlanden . The building is a great example of unusual architecture. It reflects a woman and man dancing together.

The Cubic Houses are located in Rotterdam , Netherlands. The original idea of these cubic houses came about in the 1970s and were developed by Piet Blom. Even though it is not easy to believe, The Cubic Houses offer three levels of living area.

The Basket Building is located in Ohio, USA. It may be hard to believe but–Yes! this is an actual office building. The building is home to The Longaberger Corporate, manufacturer of handcrafted maple wood baskets.

The Solar Ark is located in Gufi, Japan. Not only does it captivate with its different look, but it is also environmentally friendly. This is an impressive 630 kW solar-collecting building that kicks off over 500,000 kWh of energy every year.

An attempt to define creativity!

by manmeetk

Creativity and it’s definition varies for each one of us!Following are some  interesting definitions of creativity according to students of California State University I found :

-Creativity doesn’t have a definition per se. Once you try to define it, it loses it splendor. Creativity is anything that can be created, even if it is structured, logical, etc. Art it art if you think it is.

-Creativity is your personality. It is putting yourself and your own touch into everything that you do. Creativity in uniqueness.

-Creativity means being able to come up with your own clever ideas.

-Creativity is not common among people. It is the ability to do or create something that others find intriguing.

-Creativity is engaging in activity that is not learned from a book. It is doing something that you enjoy and that you are the author of – such as an original song or work of art.

-Creativity is the ability to think freely without placing any limilations or restrictions on oneself.

-Creativity is different every time. It is blood rushing to your brain exciting you to be different.

-Creativity is opening up your mind to new things by experimenting with them.

-Creativity is the chi and soul to one’s will – with no control and no boundaries.

For me, creativity is the freedom to do what I want to do and the way I want to do it ! It is about not putting too much emphasis on what others would like but doing what I love no matter how silly it might be . 🙂

What about you guys??

Anyone and everyone can create music!

by manmeetk

They say music is creativity in the air! Music is a medium that brings people together irrespective of gender, age and race. It allows us to express thoughts which cannot be expressed in words. Music not only stimulates our creative juices, it also helps in increasing our energy levels. Think of exercise and music! 🙂

Won’t it be great if people like me who are musically challenged (:D) could create music just by drawing a line? Hard to believe right?? Well not anymore!! Hyperscore is a musical software that helps anyone compose music! It has a number of cool features and can be used in schools to help children express themselves in a better and productive way!

Check out there website for more info:
